After growing up in Brisbane, I ran away to Sydney, via London, and worked in book and magazine publishing After many years living in the inner west, I was surprised one morning to wake up and find myself married with three children and living on the North Shore.I m not one of those people who ve always wanted to write a novelokay, I am one of those people But it wasn t until a few years ago I seriously challenged myself to do something about it In fact, it was during an alcohol fuelled New Year s Eve party where friends had been discussing the merits of a newly published novel I could write that, I blurted to anyone who d listen I ve long forgotten the title of the book from that night, but the idea of writing my own novel, quickly became my New Year s resolution The next morning my husband poked me in the ribs, force fed me two Nurofen and pointed me in the direction of the computer I also have a vague recollection of him quietly sniggering I thought it would be easy Why not I had some ideas, so set myself up with several how to books, a corner of an overcrowded spare room I could call my own and was filled with great enthusiasm confident that at the following New Year s Eve do, I d be one of the very few who d managed to keep their resolution I d have written my first novel and would be well on my way to publication. In my dreams That was seven long years ago.Along the way, This Wife s Life was short listed for the Varuna HarperCollins Manuscript Awards in 2005, and then in 2006, Lucy Springer s Story was short listed With a hell of a lot writing, rewriting, editing, and several buckets of tears, Lucy Springer s Story morphed into what is now Lucy Springer Gets Even.

    1. Claudia’s Big Break is the third novel by Australian novelist, Lisa Heidke. When Claudia Taylor’s boss, fine food importer, Marcus Cassoli, sends her to Greece on a simple errand, he sweetens the deal with two weeks holiday in a 3 bedroom apartment on the idyllic Santorini. Sounds almost too good to be true? Claudia figures it’s to soften the blow that her illicit affair with Marcus is about to end, so she invites her two best friends since school, Tara and Sophie, to share her free holida [...]

    2. This is story about best friends, who have drifted apart but choose to holiday together, which leads them to multiple dilemmas. Claudia takes a married friend with one child away with her. We see the hard side of life with a child and workaholic husband. Claudia also takes with her, her single friend who has swayed between same sex relationships and heterosexual relationships. The three girls are all falling a little short of living a wonderful life. While reading… We learn about Claudia’s h [...]

    3. Claudia Taylor is about to turn 39 and her life is going no where. Somehow, without her realising it, her twenties and most of her thirties are long behind her now in a blur of mind-numbing office jobs, inappropriate and disastrous relationships and monstrous debt. An ill-timed and probably ill-thought out fling with her boss has just hit the skids and as a bit of a kiss off, her boss sends her to Greece (all expenses paid) for a couple of weeks. Claudia just has to do this one thing for him in [...]

    4. Lisa Heidke has done it again, with another fabulous Chick Lit Novel and in this case Claudia's Big Break comes in more ways than one. Claudia has a habit of sleeping with men that really are unavailable , for instance her boss Marcus. In order to as it seems sever their ties, Marcus sends Claudia on a two-week vacation all expenses paid to Santonori , Greek Islands. It has been ten years, since Claudia and her two best friends last went on a trip , so she decides to invite them on the journey a [...]

    5. * Won this from First Reads.Claudia's Big Break was an interesting read which did not take me very long to get through. To begin with, the novel was a bit slow but the paced picked up after about 70 pages and developed into a delightful story. Though, there were some aspects that seemed overall cliched and implausible but in the end it added to the humor and enjoyment of the novel. It is clear that the author put plenty of thought into this novel, as she outlined a deep and meaningful relationsh [...]

    6. I won this on First Reads, so set about reading it almost as soon as I got it.At first I wasn't really feeling it. It probably took about 50 pages until I got over the feelings of cliché and got into the story, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise!I must admit, I don't really read chick-lit novels unless I'm in the mood for them, and this one was quite enjoyable with a nice little twist I was not expecting. Most of the characters were interesting and the story was quite well written. Tho [...]

    7. All I can say is I can't wait to go on vacation, or as they say in Australia, go on holiday to the Greek Islands. And who better to go away with for vacation then your best friends? The bond of friendship is so important and Lisa illustrates this perfectly. I was able to relate to each of the three girls in different ways. And remember your true friends are the only ones who will really be there for you. I'm excited to read more of Lisa's books. GO PICK UP A COPY OF THIS NOW!

    8. The promise on the cover of Claudia's Big Break doesn't lie. This was exactly the kind of book I wanted to read on my Gold Coast holiday - three best friends, Santorini, sun, a dose of intrigue and drama, Claudia's Big Break has it all. Though Claudia could be selfish at times, I found the depictions of the friendships true to life. I loved it. Sequel please.

    9. What I liked best about this book was the way the author captured the womens' friendships. The conversations, the action of the women, it all rang true to me. If only I could convince my friends to take me to Santorini.

    10. Lisa Heidke's 3rd book and what a great read it was can this author get any better just as I think she has done the best with her first two books she blows me away again with this one.
