    1. Ha-ha! I simply adore Judith Martin's "Miss Manners!" Aside from being very informative and adequately serving her purpose of teaching all of us heathens to improve our manners, Martin is positively entertaining and adorably witty. She reminds us that although times change, that grace and good manners are timeless. A very enjoyable way to learn ettiquette and practical applications of it.

    2. I can't say I actually read this as closely as I probably should have. I mostly skimmed along, reading the questions people have written Miss Manners to find ones that caught my eye or interest. Some of the advice comes off a bit dated -especially the section on how brides should dress at their own wedding- but nevertheless, it is filled with excellent advice. Miss Manners has always been skilled at teaching others about etiquette without coming off as rude or snobish.

    3. I also absolutely love this book. I wish there was a new one out now because we really need it. Manners help with communication so much, everyone is always so offended and annoyed by other people when they don't even mean to be rude. It really is too bad. I love you so much, Miss Manners. Thank you!

    4. Don't get me wrong. I think Miss Manners is a 5-star lady through and through. It's just that this book seemed almost identical to the one before it. So why did I pay whatever I paid for it, and why is it still taking up space on my shelf?

    5. I delight in etiquette columns, because clear guidelines are always helpful and because a skilled writer can make a simple answer into art. Martin makes me laugh, and provides me with useful information. I read her books as novels.

    6. I read this book after returning from living in, marrying in, having kids in, and studying in Germany for 11 years. It really helped me get back into the Anglo-Saxon way of manners. Practical, funny book. It probably saved my relationship with my parents!Thank you, Miss Manners

    7. I think Miss Manners should be MANDATORY reading in high school. Yes, you need to send a thank you note. No, you cannot demand a gift, no matter if it is your wedding. Just stop being so rude, honestly folks. But then, I'm old fashioned that way.

    8. ayup. worth bothering with. both classic and timely at the same swipe. go for it. you'll be glad you did (if you haven't already)

    9. Miss Manners thinks that you should bring stemware on a picnic. Huh. Usually, though, her advice is great. I find her writing style very engaging.

    10. My daughters and I have referred to this book so many times in the last 10+ years. Now grown, they still call to ask what Miss Manners' says!Timeless
