    1. This book bothers me a lot because the MC seems soively vulnerable. He reads like a small child. He's the type, though, that I really want to grab by the shoulders and shake him while screaming "What's wrong with you???"Except I know what's wrong.Another problem is Colby.Colby, Colby, Colby. In this one, he comes off as a doormat/50s housewife/ancillary penis. I hesitate because I'm not sure how much of this is due to Cris' narrator's bias.At the same time, though, I so dislike Cristian (see abo [...]

    2. Flesh & Blood is the sequel to Ethan Stone’s In the Flesh debut novel. The strengths of the first novel were not the nearly non-existence romance but the pseudo interesting mystery and the author’s voice. Here the romance remains immaterial except for a lot of sex scenes while the mysteries are obvious, foreshadowed, and extremely cliché. The author’s voice is the best thing about this story which unfortunately fails in several ways. The writing tends to be abrupt and tells almost eve [...]

    3. I liked the growth Christian shows in this book. I've seen some reviews talk about mystery, is this a mystery? I wouldn't classify it as such. Much of this book seemed more geared to Christian's healing than any mystery. I think there might have been an attempt to put to much into one book. It seems there were several plots going on that are most likely to continue into another book. Because of so much going on it made me feel like the book was a little shallow. It was a decent length but gave m [...]

    4. 2.5 stars. Ok m/m continuing the story of Reno police detective Cristian Flesh as he works on a case that shakes free all of the demons from his past. While I really loved In the Flesh, this sequel felt flat and lacking in both mystery and romance.

    5. It's so strange what I feel after reading this book. The plot is basically: Cristian Flesh investigates a case that forces him to face his past demons and realize he's a decent, loving and caring man despite the face he shows to the world.I care for Cristian Flesh and I can feel his pain and that he tries to make it better. Unfortunately I also felt it was almost impossible to reach him, even when he shows his most vulnerable side. I am always waiting for the moment when the protagonist falls ap [...]

    6. This sequel is a definite must read! I've read a few reviews that say the romance and mystery are weak. That really isn't the point of the book, they are just a means to the end. Flesh and Blood is more of the journey to discovery, and how when you make discoveries, you can learn to let go, and heal.

    7. Cristian Flesh has found love but his past may not let him be happy. It’s been a good but rocky year for detective Cristian Flesh. He and lawyer Colby have fallen in love but Cristian’s past keeps popping up. When Flesh’s new investigation leads him into the murky world of teen hustling, memories of his own past plague him. He must let down his walls to make his relationship with Colby work but confronting his past may be harder than he thought. Flesh & Blood is an action packed sequel [...]

    8. 2% - blow job - already? - insert shocked, then bored smiley here. At least it was short8% - sex - already? - insert bored smiley here 14% - sex again :(Okay so Flesh goes to the bad guys and flashes Tony's photo around. Lying about why he's looking for Tony and all this stuff. As a result tony is brutally beaten and murdered. Flesh seems to not care at all that tony would be alive and fine of he hadn't been lying and showing his picture around. Flesh is such a slut I stopped keeping track of th [...]

    9. This book has two main plots: (1) The one with the pedophile in the beginning to half and (2) The one with Cristian confronting his past from middle to end. The are couple of reasons why I don't give 4 stars of this (like book #1). While the story flows nicely and easy to read, the mystery part is weak. There is no true investigation to find the bad guy, because well, the bad guys are pretty much introduced in the beginning and Cristian must only find a way to prove it. Some issues are also a bi [...]

    10. I have two bits of praise to bestow on Ethan, and they are these: 1. Flesh and Blood has a really meaty mystery that was interesting and I always felt like the stakes were high (plus there are a couple of plot twists that really surprised me, in a good way.) 2. There's a lot of sex in the book, and while there are a couple of scenes that I thought were a little gratuitous, for the most part, the sex scenes show Cristian's emotional development, particularly as he comes to really trust Colby, and [...]

    11. Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance 4.5stars Flesh & Blood is the sequel to In the Flesh, one of my first favorite mysteries in the M/M genre. While the main mystery in Flesh & Blood isn't quite as strong as it was in In the Flesh, there is a lot more personal growth on Flesh's part, and you get a bonus mini-mystery in the process. 12. I enjoyed reading about the continued strides that Flesh makes regarding his mental well being. Flesh and Colby make such a compatible couple and I love seeing the relationship mature.I had to view this almost as two books in one. The first part of the story was solving the crime and getting through personal demons. The second was a little incongrous with the first part of the story because of the abrupt change, but still very gratifying in terms of Flesh actually taking steps to address those pe [...]

    13. Flesh and Colby are back. Yeah! Their relationship is still going strong, but a new murder is bringing Flesh's ugly past to the forefront. As far as the mystery goes. There really isn't one. The bad guys are all accounted for, it's more are they going to get away with it. And what emotional baggage effects Flesh's response.)I really liked it. Is it perfectNo, but few books are. 3.75 Stars

    14. What a great sequel to "In the Flesh". Flesh, Colby, and Gabe continue to grow and you discover what made Flesh the man he his and see him and the rest of the characters continue to unfold. Drew is introduced and I loved the way Ethan developed him. There was everything in this book, good characters, plot, and steamy sex scenes. I immediately went for the third book in the series to remain in the life of these guys.

    15. I really enjoyed this book. Not as much as the first one, but still a very good read. Lots of hot smexing and a very interesting criminal investigation. We get to meet Flesh's family and learn about his past. We also get to see their relationship deepen and feel the love they have for eachother.

    16. A bit disappointing after the first book. All the issues and drama's were dealt with superficially. Hope the next part will be better.

    17. Sequel to In the FleshDetective Cristian Flesh is about to find out that he can only run from his past for so long. When a local man is attacked and the suspect is a hustler, Cristian knows there’s more to the case than meets the eye. His investigation will lead him into a maze of lies, deceit, and underage prostitution. But that’s only the beginning as people start disappearing and turning up dead. Cristian begins to realize that solving the case and stopping the murders won’t be enough. I [...]

    18. Reviewed for Rainbow Gold Reviews 10/10 pots of gold. A copy was given in exchange for an honest review. I was very excited to read Flesh & Blood after having read and reviewed In the Flesh earlier this year. In this book, I saw a very different Cristian Flesh than he had been in book 1. The man who wanted no attachments was pretty stuck on Colby, his boyfriend and the lawyer who defended him when he was framed for murder. He was also closer to his partner in the Reno police department, Lex, [...]

    19. I was actually quite disappointed in this sequel to In the Flesh by Ethan Stone. I had come to enjoy Christian’s lively and snarky narration and thoughts when I read the first in the series, but somehow much of it (including Colby and everyone else’s screen time) was lost in the sequel. Christian is still as snarky and impulsive as ever, but he hardly gets the chance to show his personality with everything that happens in the course of the novel (and by everything it felt as if it was rainin [...]

    20. A Joyfully Jay review. 4.5 starsI read both Flesh & Blood and the first book in this series, In the Flesh, when they originally were released a few years ago. They have long been favorites of mine and I was excited to see them get re-released through DSP Publications. I think Cristian is a love him or hate him kind of guy, and I totally love him. Although he is still pretty acerbic, he is much softer in this book than in the first. We see his open heart right from the start when he is helpin [...]

    21. 5 Heart Review by TidalI love this book and the series. Detective Cristian Flesh is called to a murder scene and all the immediate evidence points to a young hustler. It seems like an open and shut case but it just seems too neat and something in Cristian’s gut tells him that something is not right. People start disappearing and more bodies are turning up. It does not take long to find that there is an underground underage prostitution ring going on and the people in power are doing everything [...]

    22. To me, Flesh and Blood separates into 4 parts; the slow beginning, the exciting middle, an unnecessary plot shift and the WTF ending! The Cristian Flesh we see in this novel is much changed from the first installment of the series. He is breaking his own rules, frequently declaring his love, actively helping people and happily spending time with a child! This new case forces Cristian to face his demons and as he opens up to Colby we learn more about the abuse he suffered and the subsequent walls [...]

    23. Ethan Stone has fast become one of my new favorite authors. I am loving this series. Flesh & Blood picks up where In The Flesh leaves off with Christian and Colby exploring their new relationship. Christian continues to slowly let Colby past the walls he's erected around himself over the years as one by one he starts breaking the rules he's lived by since he was very young. We learn quite a bit about Christian's past in this book and it's not pretty. We are taken on an emotional ride and I a [...]

    24. I wish that the tone of the book followed the character plot line more. The tone is so dry and yet the book felt melodramatic and overplayed - particularly the second half. As though the author wanted to move on to the next characters and shoved two books worth of plot into one. Also- the detective work was blatantly illegal, and the family plot line was pretty awful and wrapped up quickly with a bow. Just didn't ring true to the situations described. For example: I find it hard to believe that [...]

    25. The story line fantastic, and well written. The suspense, the romance, mystery, and hot steamy sex made this story incredibly interesting, and captivating. The characters fit perfectly into the story, as well as the settings. There was everything in this book, good characters, an amazing plot, and all the above a believable story. I really loved and enjoyed following the character throughout the story, and see their relationships evolved. What a great sequel. While new characters are introduces, [...]

    26. This sequel was so emotional, for me, I had to take several breaks just to think. We learn about Cristian's past and my heart hurts. It's literally smashed into itty bitty pieces. (view spoiler)[I would have liked more interaction between Graham and Cristian though. Maybe like an "I told you I'd get you" or something.(hide spoiler)]Those kids, it hurts just to think about-all of them, Alex, Casey, Toby, Jed, Rebel, etc. I wanted to grab them all and tell them it was okay. I don't understand peop [...]

    27. 2nd book of the flesh series. Really enjoyed it. My only probably with it is i wish i read more of a love story with Cristian and colby, not just reading about them fucking all the time. The relationship just seems based on sex. I loved the book but really was hoping more of a love story.Detective Cristian Flesh gets a call out to a man who had been attacked. Going to the hospital he comes across someone of his past. Cristian has a idea its involved in hustling. Investigating the case he comes o [...]

    28. I was really hoping that Mr. Stone would've learned from his experiences with his previous debut novel, but I was sadly mistaken.Despite Stone assuring us with rich imagery to the contrary, our protagonist is flat, his choices stupid, and the text creaks with dusty cliches. I even giggled during a sex scene. I lost interest and had to return to the text a few weeks later, seeing it cluttering up my kindle.I applaud that there's a lot more folks moving into self-publishing due to the changes that [...]
