    1. A sweet little book, but not as readable as some other similar books of the era. By this I mean that the story stops when the recipes begin.


    2. I read this as part of an online bookclub challenge. First published in 1905, Caroline French Benton's A Little Cookbook for a Little Girl reads like a story in addition to having recipes. I found it to be utterly charming, the story of young Margaret who is anxious to learn to cook. The recipes were very interesting, with things like "Frizzled Dried Beef", "Fish-Balls" and "Steak with Bananas". I was surprised to see how the 1905 version of Pigs in a Blanket differs from the version I'm familia [...]


    3. This cookbook was adorable. Because it was written for a little girl, it was definitely more my speed, lol. I enjoyed it for sure. Given that it was written in 1905, it often recommends cooking with LARD, hahaha. There are also a lot of unprecise measurements and things like "put in a very hot oven" instead of any kind of real directions, lol. Cute, short, and sweet.
