    1. This book is witty, romantic, intense and charming simultaneously. The characters are people that are living in Royal Flush, LA and they're just down home folks that support one another but don't care for Yankees. Mallory Devereaux is the most unlucky woman that with just a touch from her will change your whole day and not in a good way. She's trying to save the company she works from falling into the hands of Walter Royal and she agrees to work her uncle's casino boat. From there the story take [...]

    2. I liked this book, I guess, but I was at the same time disappointed and that's saying much considering how low my expectations were. The plot was interesting and the FBI agent was good but they never really showed how SHE was unlucky, only a phone died and a handle ripped. They never explained how she was able to make a building collapse after she was in it and why is didn't happen to any other buildings. I mean, if she makes a building COLLAPSE she should have a little more bad luck in the ever [...]

    3. I honestly don't understand all of the low reviews that I've seen on this book. I honestly enjoyed it from start to finish. This book even started off really funny with Mallory at a bar making passes at overweight port o potty salesman so that a priest could win at pool. I laughed out loud at her antics as well as those of Father Thomas. Poor Mallory and some of the things that happen to her are down right hilarious but she has a great group of friends that are always there for her. Amy, who loo [...]

    4. I might give this 2.5 stars. The most exciting part was the last five pages. I have read this authors MIss Fortune Series and absolutely loved it. This was disappointing. It was all about a poker game and terminology that I know nothing about but that would have been okay if it wasn't the whole book. There was voodoo dolls and other paranormal things that are not my cup of tea. I don't know if its because of being Canadian I don't understand the culture in Louisiana but having said that I read a [...]

    5. Funny in spots, romantic, lite-paranormal, a twist at the takedown I didn't see coming. A cast of characters you would expect from a book set in the bayou.Mallory has been cursed with bad luck from birth. It rubs off on anyone who touches her. Jake is very interested is rubbing up against her. Mallory needs money to save the demolition business she works for. She agrees to use her curse for her uncle in exchange for the money she needs. The whole simple plan takes an unexpected turn when Jake tu [...]

    6. Great Story and CharactersMallory is what I would call a jinx but in this story she is called a cooler. It is not so much that she is unlucky, but everyone she touches is unlucky. Makes it hard on relationships. But Mallory is such a wonderful woman she has lots of true friends. She is about to get into a sticky situation going to bat for her true friends and loved ones. This was a great story. I loved the quirky characters in her small Louisiana town of Royal Flush. Towards the end of the book [...]

    7. Just read itHow can you not love this book? It's got voodoo, a mechanical genius named Scooter, a crooked porta-potty king, poker, a dominatrix who's a little person, and more all set in Louisiana. There's even some romance tossed in to make it interesting. Only thing missing was an alligator. I do believe Jana DeLeon is my new favorite author.

    8. I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast read. Very funny and so unfortunate for Mallory to have such bad luck. I felt so bad for her when Amy was having a hard time and she couldn't hug her or anything. Love that the town is behind her for the most part. Scooter is such a surprise. All in All I Love getting my hands on a new Jana book. She never disappoint.

    9. A More "Normal" Jana DeLeon HeroineSharp humor and unique Louisiana-flavored philosophy, plus shenanigans as only Jana DeLeon can write them. Not a madcap roller coster like the Miss Fortune series, but not dark and tense like Shaye Archer sagas. Satisfying and solid!

    10. Great!I loved the mystic mystery part of this book. I think the characters have moremysteries to give us. The bad luck part is a good twist.

    11. Good readI enjoy this book. It has some good whit in it. The main character was great. I will definitely read more.

    12. Not her best work and quite farfetched, but a humorous read. I wouldn't run out and recommend this one to all my friends but if they asked if it was worth the timere, it wasn't bad.

    13. LuckyJana DeLeon is one of my favorite authors and she didn't disappoint with Unlucky! Enjoyable read. Funny parts. Great characters! Thoroughly enjoyed!

    14. GreatWhat can I say, she is a great writer, another case solve with the great amount of suspense and everything else

    16. This has been one of those books that has been sitting around for a while and when I had to downsize it I seemed to actually just keep this one around. Why? I am not quite sure although the cover is fun with all the superstitions that you see thrown in although I am a bit disappointed they didn't find a way of putting an umbrella somewhere in the mix or a salt shaker spilling precious salt out as she walks distractedly down the sidewalk. As for the plot I had no idea what I was getting into nor [...]

    17. RecommendedEntertaining bedtime read:Enjoyable, entertaining, and humorous-- easy to read, would recommend this author & book, definitely was fun to read

    18. ok this is kind of a spoiler i guess, because really within a couple chapters you already know what's going to happen, but this is really bugging me latelywhat is up with all of these chicks in these romance-y books getting married after knowing the guy for a week??? i mean i love my husband more than potato chips, but there was no way i figured that out after 1 week. more like years! i guess that i am fairly new to romance novels, but really?? are they all like this? aside from being a bit unbe [...]

    19. This book frustrated me, because it had an interesting premise and interesting characters, but BOY did Ms. Deleon need a better editor. The story wasn't as tight as it could have been and frequently meandered off topic. It wasn't nearly as rich and deep as it could have been. There were pages and pages of totally unnecessary desicription, and no description when there should have been tons.Explanations of character's relationships to each other came at the end of the book when I basically didn't [...]

    20. Unlucky - Ghost-inplaw series #5 (Mallory and Jake)Mallory Devereaux is known throughout the town of Royal Flush, Louisiana as a walking disaster and her luck just got worse. She needs to raise ten-thousand dollars in one week to keep the IRS from seizing her adopted fathers business where she works as the demolition foreman. When the opportunity to cool cards at her uncle's casino comes up, Mallory hopes her luck is changing. But when she realizes her uncle has assembled a tournament of crimina [...]

    21. A fun story with delightful characters. The main character, (whose name I have to look up) brings disastrous luck where ever she goes, so much so that she had to change careers from building buildings to demolishing them. She can keep a boyfriend because her bad luck rubs off on anyone she touches. When she needs money to save her friends business and her job, her not too nice uncle sets her up to mess up the luck of some big time mob gamblers. Of course he doesn't tell her that is who is gambli [...]

    22. Before I complain about this book, let me say that I did enjoy it, and it's a good beach-type light read. Now, for my complaints. The story line and premise of this book is very similar to Toni Causey's Charmed and Dangerous. They both have a chronically unlucky Cajun woman who gets mixed up in a criminal scheme and goverment set up, only to fall in love with the undercover FBI agent determined to keep her safe. Inprobable but hilarious situations ensue. They are so similar that they even both i [...]

    23. This book was an enjoyable read. Mallory, a demolition expert needs money to buy out a delinquent IRS lien in order to save her Uncle's company and her job.She takes a job as a 'cooler' in a gambling tournament held in her questionable Uncle's Casino in Louisiana. She knows something is wrong in the entire set up. Something is also wrong with the 'Yankee' Dealer. This book turned out to be a fast-paced, funny, romantic romp into the worlds of ATF, FBI, and gambling.Very likable characters. You fi [...]
