    1. A short story filled with honest emotion, Brian Bigelow’s The Visitation explores “the solitary existence of an elderly widower,” nicely framed by the Emily Dickinson quote, “Because I could not stop for Death, he kindly stopped for me.” The author portrays his character’s love and loss convincingly, and it’s hard not to see people I’ve known living out these daily actions as I read—boiling a kettle, reading a book, turning down the corner of a page. Languid sentences filled wi [...]

    2. A sweet story of love and loss and a new beginning. At only 7 pages this is an ideal fast read since it will leave you thinking and more than that no one can expect from a book. Bravo to the author to pace 7 pages with so much true emotion. WaAr

    3. In "The Visitation" by Brian Bigelow we meet a widower in pain, his life and thoughts still focused entirely on his late wife until she comes to visit him. We don't know how or why she is coming for him and neither does he but his love is strong enough to trust her.A lot remains unexplained in this tale and by omission Bigelow says more than by explaining. The details don't matter, the visitation is welcome and no price too high to pay.Despite the shortness and simplicity this felt very rich. Ev [...]

    4. The Visitation by Brian BigelowPublished 2012 by Brian BigelowSmash Words EditionISBN: 97813012677369 PagesA beautifully written short story that is rich in imagery, even right down to the teabag floating in Seth’s tea cup. The scene with Seth in his thread bare chair reminded me of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. The lights flicker, and we just know that he is to be visited by something or someone. It turns out to be Seth’s wife, dead six years now, who comes to guide him into the aft [...]

    5. I really enjoyed The Visitation. It may have been short but it does not lack in story or feeling. The love that the man has for his wife is so strong. So strong in fact that he does not question her, even after she has past away. Was a great read and I would highly recommend it.

    6. The visitation is a short story that is written from the depth parts of on’e being. You could tell the author had experienced some kind of loss. A relatable kind of a loss that I surely could connect to. The human elements pull you in and makes you want to know more.
