    1. The best camping cookbook. Full of stories, facts as well as recipes. I've made them at home when we're not camping because we all enjoy them so much.

    2. This was an enjoyable read. Every other camping cookbook I checked out from the library imagined I would be leaving for camp directly from home, or that I would have a detailed meal plan so I would know ahead exactly how much of each ingredient I would need, or that I would have access to equipment that I'd need for just one meal. I could see us running out of food, bringing way too much, or having everything I brought spoil on the first day. This book included some interesting history about wha [...]

    3. This book was great and not your average cookbook. I really enjoyed how the author discussed how food was prepared outside back when there was no other option. There were great hints, stories, 'grub lists', etc. I also appreciated that there was a lot of emphasis on using natural, whole foods for camping rather than freeze-dried food, canned food, etc. I am looking forward to trying some of the recipes!

    4. Pretty meat heavy, which I expected. But then I felt challenged to alter the recipe/grub list to be vegetarian. Fun brief history of cooking outdoors in the US. Did feel inspired to try some new stuff the next time we car camp or go backpacking. Felt strong desire to map out backpacking trip for this summer, especially with subzero temps and wind chills outside.

    5. Amusing anecdotes but useless for meals to make whilst camping with my family. It is entirely aimed at the U.S. market.
