    1. This is the first complete erotica book that I've read, but I read the print proof copy at the request of the author. I point this out as a caution that I cannot really say how it fares against other books in its genre. In general:I recently read another book (by another author, which I won't name here) where the protagonist is female, the author forcefully reminds you of this fact, and it doesn't really matter. I'm relieved to say that in all of the stories in this book the character being femal [...]

    2. This isn't my usual genre at all (romance or erotica), but I loved the feminist angle in these stories. Cara is such a strong character, and the guys are totally swoonworthy. The romance is hot, and the steampunk world is beautifully crafted. The companion short stories round out the collection with other brave women protagonists and the men they have power over.Oh, and there are some fantastic twists in the first story that I did NOT see coming at all! Overall: a fun read, especially when you h [...]

    3. MY LADY GAMBLER wasn't a book I enjoyed at all. The romance in the primary novella was totally off, the steampunk elements barely qualified it as steampunk and the stories didn't meld well. This is a novella and three short stories. The novella features Cara a woman living as a man to gamble at poker and Lord Stanley who challenges her to a duel, thinking his wife slept with Cara. The first short story is about Carlotta who works with clockwork dancers and meets a young man. The next story is abo [...]

    4. I've mixed feelings about this book. While the steamy bits are nice and the setting interesting I believe the author tried a little too hard to get the language contemporary. It's not a big deal though and after a while I got used to it. A bigger issue is the fact that some of the characters behave in ways I can't find believable. This goes particularity for the novella. The story I liked the most was the airship one, the characters here were most likeable and believable.Oh and a big plus for the [...]

    5. The three short stories faired better to me than the novella of My Lady Gambler.St. Cross was difficult to become enamored with. It was rough to start and finally became something read worthy for me about halfway through.I waver between 2.5 and 3 stars. I liked it, but it didn't leave me wanting more like a really good book generally does for me.
