    1. 4.5 StarsHeartland Courtship may be my favorite of Lyn Cote's Wilderness Brides series. It is difficult to decide, since they were all so good!Spinster Rachel Woolsey is a Quaker who moved west in 1871 to claim her own homestead and to start a bakery business at a time when most women did not have such opportunities. She arrived at Pepin, Wisconsin, by riverboat and was met by her cousin, Noah, with whom she would stay until she had a place of her own. On the same riverboat was Brennan Merriday, [...]

    2. I was so happy to return to Pepin, Wisconsin for this story. What a great book this was! I have enjoyed the entire Wilderness Brides series by Lyn Cote and this book, Heartland Courtship, is no exception. It is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand alone book, too.Rachel Woolsey, the heroine of the book, is a Quaker and travels to Pepin to start up her own bakery. Her cousin's family lives in Pepin, so she is not totally on her own in a new town. But, a woman who plans to be indepe [...]

    3. Two single people working together to make a new life for themselves. Loved these characters and how they cared for each other knowing they could not be together. Brennan was determined to go to Canada to get away from all reminders of the war. And Rachel was determined to have a successful life of her own, both as a homesteader and a business woman.

    4. Heartland Courtship, a Christian historical novel set in Wisconsin just after the civil war, is a pleasure to read from cover to cover. The two main characters, Rachel and Brennan, have very different obstacles to overcome, but both change and grow in delightful ways throughout the story. Rachel is a strong lady, but not overbearing, which can sometimes be difficult to pull off. The many subplots, wonderful and varied secondary characters, and bits of Wisconsin history kept the story flowing ext [...]

    5. This was an adorable story and I kinda wish the series didn't end just yet, but oh well. Rachel had great business sense and really didn't require much help from Brennan (except for the homestead ridiculousness). I really liked that cuz her products made her business, not her. The plot had a lot of turns in it, making this a good page-turner. I kept thinking, "Well this is an interesting situation," lol. Many things were happening one after another, but it was woven very well together. Wonder wh [...]

    6. I received a copy of this book thru good reads giveaway. I was so excited to start this book. The author never disappoints her readers with her intricate detail of not only the characters, but the destination of the place where the story takes place. I love the way she captures the reader"s attention as she makes you fall in love with the story. Thanks for another great Amish book where their religious beliefs are strong and love is unconditinal.

    7. I haven't read the other books in the series, but I don't think I missed anything. I enjoyed the variety of characters.

    8. First, I want to thank Kav from Best Reads I won this book in her giveaway!! I believe it is the first book I have read by Lyn Cote. I can't say I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it wasn't bad. I just felt like there was too much about the main characters feelings for each other and their confusion about those feelings. It was a sweet story, with a good message. I don't think I'll read it again, but it would be a good read for the beach or a road trip!

    9. Rachel moves to Pepin, Wisconin n 1871 to be independent and live near her cousin, Noah. Brennan arrives at the same time but is very ill and is nursed back to health by Rachel. Brennan then feels he owes her so he commits himself to be her hired hand to help her stake her claim and get her bakery business started.

    10. First let me say, this is the first Love Inspired Historical I have read in many years They usually are not my choice of reading, but I won this in a blog giveaway. It set around in my TBR pile for a long while, but I finally read it this last week and found myself really enjoying it! I enjoyed Lyn's writing style and the sweet story.

    11. "It's easy to empathize with the hero's struggle to find contentment in his life. The heroine's Quaker background and her desire to be an independent woman make for an appealing story." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 starsMiniseries: Wilderness Brides

    12. Nice, angsty historical post-Civil War inspirational with a "Yankee" Quaker heroine and a Southern hero with a lot of issues from the war, not necessarily what might be expected. It's well-written and I liked it quite a bit.
