    1. People are calling THAT a HEA?! It's more like a prison sentence, forced to only be attracted to one person who you don't particularly care for. Yippie. Well, let's start at the beginning. There are several reasons including poor character development, shitty mystery plot, and cheesy banter that I know I would not have been a fan of this book even if I had been reading it. So if you liked book 1, maybe ignore me, because you'll probably like this too. Many other people seem to have liked it. But [...]

    2. B+Another fantastic installment in The Sleepless City series. I enjoyed this book so much. It fulfilled most of the unfinished promises from Shades of Sepia  and left some more ready and awaiting the next book. These authors did a fabulous job of creating a fun and seamless joint effort of continuity and diversity in each book,These guys are in a mess. I felt so bad for all three men. It was no one's fault that the two men who had spent centuries together were not meant to be soul bonded. They' [...]

    3. Although the second of the "Sleepless City" series, "Electric Candle" is by a different author, Elizabeth Noble, and thus can stand alone. As an author of gay vampire romance myself, I am always intrigued to see how other authors reshape the vampire ethos of "Dracula" to suit the modern world. Noble has done a clever job of it, offering us a houseful of vampires, along with werewolves, a ghost and assorted other entities. With faint echoes of television series like "Being Human," Noble shows us t [...]

    4. REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCEAnyone who knows me well knows I am a little anal when it comes to reading a book series. You have to read them in order You have to read them ALL within a few days of each other I sob when I have to wait for a WIP to finish the seriesAfter saying all that I read Electric Candle which is obviously Book 2 The Sleepless City Series without having read Book 1 and lived to tell the tale! In my opinion it made perfect sense but knowing the characters as I do now I will [...]

    5. Really? Damnit. So again the story is good and I can feel it working up to some serious shit going down in Flint, OHIO. ( I was humming 'Bloodbuzz Ohio' the whole book)The romance: I no more believed that Blaine and Forge were 'soul-bonded' then I believe Brittney Spears and that dude she married in Vegas and divorced 28 hours later were 'soul-bonded'. Forge has been getting benefits from Declan for as Papa Smurf would say 'a long damn time'.He meets his soul-bond-mate person and proceeds to jac [...]

    6. Why had I never heard of this series? It's pretty good. Might have been better if I read book 1 first. But I enjoyed it.I usually don't have issues with soul mates. Usually it's love at first sniff, or something. But this time, it was a smidgen off for me. It sounded more like being forced into it. But, they seemed to resolve their feelings towards it. Just didn't seem fair, that a couple who loved each other be forced apart. And Blair does NOT seem like he is 30 years old. Yeah, I get that he's a [...]

    7. The narrator was good, the only problem was that after listening to book 1 of this series with a different narrator, I had a voice for these characters in my head and having them changed threw me off a little bit.I liked this story alot. At first it doesn't seem like the deaths being investigated by Jonas Forge have anything to do with the deaths that happened in book 1. They killed the man responsible after all. But as the body count rises and they discover that the victims were all robbed of s [...]

    8. I enjoyed the mystery of what was behind the series of deaths going on very much, I thought that was engaging and interesting. I loved Blair and his introduction in this story, and I really liked him as a character. I don't know if I loved Blair and Forge together since they both seemed so reluctant (mostly Forge) to want the soul bonding. And their relationship didn't seem HEA honestly, more of a HFN, so I'm glad I have more to read with these guys to see what happens next.

    9. This review can be found at The Blogger Girls review site.4.5 starsAfter being a vampire for a few centuries, Forge is more than happy with his life and doesn’t expect, or want, to find his soul mate. So, when he’s investigating a string of murders, the last thing he expects is to follow a stranger and end up saving his soul mate… who just happens to be another vampire and a man he’s known for years but never met. Blair had no idea soul mates existed and not exactly sure how to handle th [...]

    10. We met Forge in book one, Shades of Sepia. (Review here: thebloggergirls/2014/11/11) He is another, really old, vampire who is friends with Simon. He has a lover, Declan, and though they aren’t mates, they’re happy with each other. As a result, Forge is not really too psyched to find his soul mate when he meets Blair, the missing computer guru he’s been working with online for years. It turns out Blair is a recent (5 years) vampire and has never been taught how to be a vampire.Blair is hyst [...]

    11. Flint Ohio is where our story takes place. It is a nice town where human and supernatural people, vampires and werewolves, live together without a problem. Although, if you’re planning a vacation any time soon you may want to avoid Flint Ohio. There is a serial killer on the loose.Spring time in Flint Ohio *sighs* love is in the air as well as the pollen. Both of these things are causing Jonas Forge a little discomfort. Jonas or Forge as his friends call him live in Boggs Castle along with Dec [...]

    12. Electric Candle by author Elizabeth Noble has to be my favorite book I have read of Ms. Noble's so far. Really beautiful character connection, and I loved the humor that is sprinkled in as well. I will say two negatives I guess you would call them, I felt there was a ton of story I was missing. But I am reading book two of The Sleepless City, so I think that is more my fault for not reading the first book. So read this series in order. The ending well, not a winner for me. I felt like the entire [...]

    13. I will say I'm still a bit biased on all these guys as I've read Code Name: Jack Rabbit first. That being said, I felt bad for Jonas and Blaire. For different reasons, of course. Blaire was basically "raped" and made into a vampire 5 years ago, and was left barely remembering the occurrence and completely abandoned by his maker. Having no real knowledge on being one, he decides all the folklore was true and lived his life accordingly. Basically, he was alone for 5 years and his only interactions [...]

    14. I’ve been looking at this book/cover for ages now so when the audio came up I jumped. Having not read or listened to the first one I was a little concerned but knew I had time if I needed to go back. Which I didn’t. I’m guessing they made references to book 1 and the paring off throughout this book but it never took away from the story.I found Forge a very entertaining character, for being so old and that clueless and yet incredibly smart and protective. Unfortunately, Blair started gettin [...]

    15. FiveStarsYou have Blair who is lost on what he his and unsure on what he was feeling. I did feel bad for him because of him having to compete with someone who was not there. I really loved his character. Then there was Forge who did not want anything to do with Blair at first because of Declan and not wanting a soul mate. Honestly he kind of made me mad in some parts of the book with the way he treated Blair. But once he stops fighting it It was so sweet the way he treated Blair and how much he c [...]

    17. Jonas Forge is nearly 250 years old, and whilst his best friend with benefits is nearing 300, they are missing that vital spark. Enter Blair, who sparks things up in Forge's soul but here is also a mysterious stranger in town. The book has a nice comic touch - a vampire with hay fever, poking fun a 'accepted' vampiric traits. This was more evident in the first half of the book, when Forge and Blair are still working out the rules of a soul bonding. The bad guys have been slightly identified and t [...]

    18. 2nd read 9/15/2015The blurb accurately describes the book but it can’t come close to describing the quality of the writing, the strength of the story and the uniqueness of the characters. There is a vampire scene that has to be the funniest I’ve ever read and I’m still visualizing it. Hot but no sex overload and I like it that way. There’s a HEA for the main characters and, even though this can be read as a stand-alone, the first book, Shades of Sepia is equally good and I recommend buyi [...]

    19. I thought that Electric Candle was a nice addition to the series and, even though written by another author to Shades of Sepia, it was a smooth transition with an expansion on the world building, the characters, and a good mystery.Full review at

    20. This is the second book in a 4 book series about 3 couples. The first 3 books are each about a separate couple but they all live in a "castle" together so they are vastly intertwined. You really do need to read them in order and read all 4 if you want to solve the ultimate mystery going on in the stories. All the MC's are great (although calling one character Jonas and Forge gets confusing), they are a little (or a lot) different, interesting, charming, characteristic, funny and/or just plain sex [...]

    21. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters, the housemates were all fabulous. I realized though, after I'd put the book down, that there was no conclusion to who/whatever was killing and the reason behind it. I read this as a standalone, so maybe that was part of the issue, and we'll have the answer in the next book. Hopefully. I'd love to see a Lucas and Declan story.

    22. Good series so far. Really liked the smooth transition between books, especially since they're each written by different authors.

    23. Better than Shades of Sepia (though on second reading and with the weight of the rest of the series behind it, a better read than before).

    24. This took me forever to finish because the central conceit of 'I don't want a soulmate because of some sad reason' just wasn't very engaging.
