    2. “It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.”----William ShakespeareHilary Thompson, an American author, has penned an extremely compelling YA dystopian book, Justice Buried which is the first book in the Starbright series and one look at the page of this book makes me wonder, why isn't more number of YA readers are reading this thoroughly gripping YA science fiction dystopian that is mixed with astrology and lots of mythology, featuring our world, not so far away from the [...]

    3. ~ I received this book from Netgalley, in exchange for a honest review ~I was drawn to this novel by two factors: 1) the gorgeous, attractive cover (I know, never judge a book by its cover… but all my good intensions went out of the window)2) an enthusiastic review I read that made me crave to read this one.The theme of a society that lives underground and puts its destiny in the hand of never-seen stars seemed really appealing to me.We worship the sun and the planets. We do everything accordi [...]

    4. When disaster wipes out most of humanity, three cities were formed from the survivors. One went underground where it has remained, currently governed by a ruthless dictator. Following the signs of the Zodiac, mates are matched and one teen has been prophesied to be the savior of her world, freeing them from their underground life. But,will her personal quest for free will and her denial of who she is change the fate of the only world she has known?Astrea bears the diamond marks of the future lea [...]

    5. “Trust isn’t always about telling the truth in everything, Trea. Yes, you need honesty to develop trust. But trust also involves knowing someone will be there to hold you when you can’t even get out of bed. Someone who will stay with you, even when you don’t deserve it, because their world doesn’t turn without you in it.” I got this copy through an e-book giveaway! And I am so glad I did! This is by far one of the most unique book I've read. The stars, horoscopes and zodiac signs alway [...]

    6. I was drawn to Justice Buried first by the cover which is really eye catching. The synopsis also appealed to me because it had been a while since I read a Dystopian novel. I am so glad I took a chance on this book because Justice Buried is an exciting story!!I have read a couple of Young Adult Dystopian novels and they all have the common theme – a society that appears perfect, young characters that rebel, and a love triangle. Justice Buried has all this but I found the story unique and creati [...]

    7. So obviously, I was drawn in by this amazing cover. Seriously, gorgeous. And then upon reading the description, I knew I was in. I found this book to be quite refreshing, because I have yet to encounter an astrology-infused dystopian. Perhaps there is another, but I certainly haven't come across it!The main character, Astrea, is in a bit of a pickle. Her life has been dictated for her, based on some equinox/zodiac situation that was put into play long before she was even born. I have a feeling t [...]

    8. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. One hundred years ago, The Great Sickness or Cleansing wiped out everyone but the people in 3 cities. The city of Asphodel has been underground since then. They never go above ground, have never seen the sun, or anything. Now, according to prophecy, Lexan and Astrea are supposed to lead their people out of Asphodel and go above now that the Great Sickness has passed. Was the Great Sickness an act of God, or was it man-made? I enjoyed this book, alth [...]

    9. Thought Provocation!Great sci-fi work, thought-provoking and convincing. A bit too convincing even in view of the current state of affairs on a worldwide scale.

    10. Loved this book it reminded me of the book Enclave. The people live under ground and they live by astrology, there leader is not so nice, and a girl called Astrea and a boy called Lexen are due to take over but a stranger finds his way inside and gets Court so Astrea and Lexan help him escape, if you like dystopian your like this enjoyable read.

    11. Isn't this cover just gorgeous? I won't lie. I totally chose to read this one because of the cover. I couldn't help myself. Thankfully reading this one did not end up being a mistake. The story contained within is truly worthy of this beautiful artwork.Imagine yourself in a future world where everything is dictated by what astrological sign you are born under. Your vocation, the colors you are allowed to wear, who you will eventually partner with, it is all decided by what your zodiac sign is.No [...]

    12. First and foremost, if you hate love triangles, do not read this book. This book had that type of love triangle where the stupid girl is all back and forth between the two guys whilst also being back and forth in her opinion of the two guys. She liked him, she hated him, she liked him, she hated him. And round and round it went. It was soooo annoying. She'd be saying how much she liked one guy one page, and the next page she'd say how glad she was she chose not to trust him. And then she liked o [...]

    13. 3.5 stars. review to come when I'm less likely to bitch out/about the main charcter and her stupid choices.Alright, let's see if I can write a good review without gettin super annoyed at Astrea aka our main Characterrst off I want to say if you like Greek Mythology in any way shape or form, run don't walk to this book because it is DEFINITELY for you. This book combines amazing references to Greek mythology with hints of zodiac (Stars not Chinese) and just a very slight touch to Christianity Rel [...]

    14. There's a beautiful symmetry in the way the intricate and intriguing cover perfectly mirrors the captivating story inside.100 years after a great sickness possibly destroyed the planet, the population of Asphodel lives in an underground society strictly controlled by a theocracy based on the zodiac - stars they have never seen. Their vocations and partners are chosen based on compatibility with their star signs and the 3000 strong society is busy and content due to a full schedule and medication [...]

    15. Imagine a scientist married to a wealthy survivalist. They create an astrology cult, prophesize the end of the world, create an underground city, unleash a virus to kill off the population and then shut the doors on the outside world for about a century. Sounds like good reading to me. Now, some of this was not stated outright but eluded to throughout the story. I assume some secrets have to also be kept for the later books.Astrea is a 17 year old girl living in the underground city of Asphodel. [...]

    16. The synopsis for Justice Buried was so interested I could not wait to be part of this tour. I was pleasantly surprised with the original storyline.Likes:I love when books are unique and don’t seem like something you have a read a million times before. There was so astrology and mythology within the story, but it was fresh and new.The idea of living underground in caves was so captivating. And the culture these citizens had created was so interesting.I loved how Astrea and Lexan were paired and [...]

    17. 3.5"I want to create my own destiny. But this is Asphodel, and that will never happen."Hi! Sorry, I was too busy staring at one of the most gorgeous cover I’ve ever seen! Oh wow. What a unique concept. Justice Buried stands out from all of the dystopian books I’ve read this year so far. Dystopia novels are all over the place now. I actually find the genre too crowded. So it’s nice to read a book like Justice Buried. It’s a refreshing read!! Me while reading: Fascinated and Confused. I lo [...]

    18. I have to say, this book was a very pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the way that the author combined elements of myth and astrology to create a new world. The setting and the characters were well described, and it was easy to lose myself in the story telling. I thought it was really cool how fate came into play to tie characters together, and Thompson did a good job expanding and creating the more fantastical elements to this dystopian novel. I also really liked both of the love interests.Th [...]

    19. Full review can be found here. Thanks to NetGalley for providing this copy in exchange for an honest review.Justice Buried is an engaging tale of a young MC, Astrea and her chosen path in a prophecy set long before her birth. There are a lot of stories about the main character being a part of something bigger, something set in stone before they even existed, so it takes a lot to make it original. Tying in the set prophecy with the zodiac and a plan to keep a city's people in the dark about the le [...]

    20. Justice Buried is an interesting dystopian novel about a community of people who have been living underground for over a century. Retreating to their cave home after the great "Sickness" swept over the world, they don't know if they are the only ones left on Earth. Astrea has been prophesied to be their next leader, and she is not excited about it. At. All. Astrea is angry and kind of a brat for most of the beginning of the book as she charges around and talks back to people with little regard f [...]

    21. Well, another Saturday, another book finished. I’m thinking of trying to do more than just one, but we’ll see about that. Anyway, today I’m talking about a book from a new author (new to me at least), Justice Buried by Hilary Thompson.Justice Buried is the first book in the Starbright series, and I’m not too sure how many books there will be, but Justice Buried is a story about Astrea, a young woman who is tasked with fulfilling a prophecy that has her as a savior of Asphodel, a city tha [...]

    22. The great sickness had taken its toll on all humans, living creatures & plant life. 3 sisters would decide the fate of the world. Lachesis built the city of Asphodel all underground. Clotho decided Tartarus would lie in the hot desert. Aisa built Elysium at the edges of all the land.Someday the Starbright Maiden of Justice would return to rule over the PPL. 2168, The Choosing Day ceremony is part of Asphodel’s long tradition.Astrea (f, daughter, classmate) was discussing with her father, & [...]

    23. For more of my reviews: jaynikkibelthoughts.wordpressAlright first order of business, YA fantasy. I have found that lately I am staying away from YA books. Sure there are a few times a YA book comes across such as this one, but lately none have really captured my attention. This book did. It drew me in and didn't let go.Astrea isn't my favorite heroine but I did like her. Unlike certain heroines that I will not name, Bella, Astrea has the "I don't need no man" attitude. I like that in a heroine. [...]

    24. Astrea, a sixteen year old female, has been chosen to be the next leader of the city of Asphodel after she was born on the Spring equinox, the first in one hundred years. Unfortunately she doesn't believe that she is the chosen one, just the one who was unfortunate enough to be born on that day. And then there is Lexan, born on the Autumn equinox, they are fated to be together, whether they want to or not. As their pairing day approaches they are both being prepared for their lives as future lea [...]

    25. My Rating: 3.5 - I'm Conflicted!Review - Seriously, conflicted. This was a really good book and I could have loved it except for a couple big things. This book has a lot going for it, it's dystopian-ish, it has some great mythology and astrology which I found very interesting and kinda awesome because it's not something I see a lot in books. I loved the plot and the world building, which reminded me in parts of Divergent not just the setting underground in a cave system that reminded me of Daunt [...]

    26. A decent read! Set in a future wiped out by disease, the main characters have been raised in an underground society obsessed with the zodiac and the placement of the sun and moon. This amused me, as they were underground :) I think this book could have been a little more fleshed out? They do stuff because that's what they are supposed to do, I guess. The prophecy and whatnot, I get it. But the whole intro, I didn't really feel connected to the characters. I LIKE Astrea, but I don't understand wh [...]

    27. Review originally posted on my blog. The first word that crosses my mind when I think about Justice Buried is ”innovation”. That is because the first book in the Starbright series follows the young-adult book pattern, but it also features new, innovative assets. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world which consists of three cities - Asphodel, Tartarus, Elysium - and some Tribes. Asphodel is the underground city, ruled by the First Leader and organised according to the zodiac, which dicta [...]

    28. I received a free copy of this book from the author for my honest review.Over a hundred years, after the great sickness, the world is divided into three parts. One of those parts is Asphodel, a huge cavern where people have been sealed in to stay safe from the sickness. The Zodiac signs have become as a religion to the people and your birth sign rules your life. Two young people, a boy, Lexan, and Astrea, a young girl are the chosen Leaders of the future. The date of their birth determined their [...]
