    1. **You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: bookbriefs**4.5/5 stars Kate's Escape from the Billable Hour is 4.5 non-billable hours of pure hilarity. I don't even know where to begin with my review. Having been a law clerk at a "big law" firm while in law school, and watching some of my classmates go through the grind, I found this book to be extra humorous. I could not stop laughing. I'm at a smaller boutique law firm now, and I am happy to say it is NOTHING like Krapp & Lipschit [...]

    2. Let me just get this out first: I LOVED this book. There is nothing particularly unexpected or unusual about the story but it was done so well and everything just worked. Quick paced, funny, heart-warming – the perfect summer romance read and I just whizzed through it and delighted in every page.Kate’s meltdown after being humiliated by her bosses at her hilariously awful law firm Krapp & Lipschitz LLP (the clue is in the name) is both heart-breaking and exhilarating; the sort of thing we [...]

    3. I wish I could give this book 3.5 stars because, even a couple weeks after finishing it, I can't decide how I feel about it. The beginning really grabbed me and I loved it all the way up to the first 25% or so. Kate is working at a law firm and stereotypically jumping jumping jacks when they say jump and doing everything to please them but they still aren't happy, and, when she really thinks about it, neither is she. I could relate to this part but I still think that non-lawyers would like it be [...]

    4. This post originally appeared on She's Got the Book:Kate Billings is going into her second-year review at a horrible Big Law firm, Krapp & Lipschitz (the name is so great – just say it out loud). She’s put in more hours than the firm requires, placed her social life on hold, and is expecting a big bonus. Kate thinks her life is finally working out now that she’s lost more than 80 pounds and is pulling in six figures a year. However, a horrible firm review, a subsequent meltdown, and a [...]

    5. Kates in search of a much needed "sanity break" from her job at Krapp & Lipschitz, L.L.P"Scottsdales Law Firm with Arizona Values." After her annual review going unpredictably bad, receiving a smoked ham and concealer, a nice reminder that she looks to juvenile in the workplace and should be covering her freckles.Kates coming to the conclusion maybe shes not as happy as she thought she was with her life in and out of her job. Kate suddenly heads Barcelona with a one way ticket and no real di [...]

    6. If you enjoy a quick "beach read" this would be a book for you. Its very lighthearted and doesn't take itself too seriously. And I definitely enjoy a break from the seriousness of life from time to time, so this was a nice little trip.Kate Billings is a young attorney working for Krapp and Lipschitz, your typical "Big Law" firm where they are obsessed with billing hours and have a very antiquated idea of what a female associate should look like. Its that time of year where the associates are ant [...]

    7. Kate's Escape from the Billable Hour by Petula Parker is a great book. Having been a paralegal for the past 16+ years, I found this book to be a lot of fun to read. Anyone working in the legal field and familiar with "Big "Law" firms and the never-ending need for more billable hours, will find a lot of humor in this book. However, this book is so fun it is for everyone, not just those of us slogging it out in the legal field. This book is for those people with a first crush they can't move on fr [...]

    8. Kate Billings was a second year associate at Krapp & Lipschitz Law Firm until her meltdown and she had to take a “sanity break”. Without forethought, she flies to Barcelona in search of Diego, the foreign exchange student who lived with her family 10 years ago. She had never gotten over her crush. Back then Kate was fat, unattractive and awkward. Now that she was thin, attractive and successful, she decided it was time to pursue him. But still plagued by awkwardness, mayhem seems to foll [...]

    9. Kate's Escape From the Billable Hour is a nicely written and well edited humorous romance.Kate is working at a soul numbing job as a corporate attorney. When she has a breakdown after receiving a poor job review she escapes to Barcelona, Spain in search of the exchange student she fell in love with as an overweight teenager. After they reunite her life doesn't work out the way she dreamed. Both the main and secondary characters are well developed in this novel and the plot is original. There were [...]

    10. Kate's Escape from the Billable Hour by Petula Parker, what can I say but absolutely amazing novel. I enjoyed this read from the beginning to the end. Kate Billings represents so many young women trying to be it all happy, educated, working and in love. Parker writing style is so "Movie-esque," it simply flows. This novel is a page turner and reads pretty quickly, trust me when I say you will not want to put it down. Life lessons have to be learned through experiencing life and Kate although sma [...]

    11. An Arizona lawyer trades her cutthroat office for a Barcelona “sanity break” in this charming debut. Deftly avoiding the pitfalls of stereotypical chick lit, Parker combines a winning narrator, convincing banter, and a sparkling sense of humor to make this a great escape.(See my full review at Foreword.)

    12. The book had many good qualities but it wasn't quite plausible and I wasn't clear whether self discovery or the new love interest was the theme. She did some incredible immature things and I'm too old to over look a rant to ones mother regarding gay men. Overall it was a pleasant book with a cool settingSpain.

    13. Pretty easy plot: Kate works in a horrible job. Kate flees to Barcelona to find an exchange student she has a crush on. Kate learns more about herself. Hijinks ensue. Kate finds both love and a better job. Good read on an airplane.

    14. Silly, predictable, but I related to life in a law firm and the need to escape from the whole billable hour thing.

    15. I read this book for net galley in return for an honest review. Apart from the mistakes in the printing I have to say it was a really good read. Made me laugh but was a nice story too :D X
