Shane KP O Neill is the writer of The Dracula Chronicles, a new and exciting series adding a fresh dimension to the Dracula legend, which combines the real historical Vlad Dracula with a new and different version of Dracula the vampire He has released the series in two arcs, one that follows Dracula the man and the other following Dracula the vampire. The author developed a fascination with Dracula from an early age Like many others he was enthralled by Christopher Lee s portrayal of him on the big screen It was in his late teens that he discovered Dracula the man and the love affair began from there An avid lover of history, he studied the period in which the real historical Vlad Dracula lived, 15th Century Balkan, for many years It followed from there then that with his love of writing he would always choose Dracula as his subject He built a concept and premise where he could accommodate both Dracula the vampire and Dracula the man.Away from writing, the author has a wide range of interests He reads a lot of books from a wide variety of authors, though his main interest lies in the horror genre His love of books is matched only by his love of the countryside and of course, his family As an added note, he has lived and travelled all over the world He has a love for all things historical, with a particular fascination for medieval Europe Anywhere he travels, he likes to search out locations with an historical interest and will always hunt for the ruins of an old castle before heading to the beach.Find out at draculachronicles

    1. Originally I thought this book would turn out to be something like "The Historian" with it's factual or close to thereof accounts of times past, but it was SO MUCH BETTER. Whereas The Historian took me months to plod along through, I easily finished this book in a matter of days for lack of ability to put it down. The author provides a NEW spin on the Dracula tale that even a hard core enthusiast like myself could accept because of how well written it was and how well the story progressed. There [...]

    2. Shane O’Neill’s ‘The Dracula Chronicles’ is an ambitious project. O’Neill combines elements of the traditional Dracula story with chunks of Goethe’s ‘Faust’ and positions his tale against an epic historical backdrop. This Dracula is literally a child of Hell, acting both as the central protagonist but also as a pawn of the fallen Lucifer. Waging war against the forces of Heaven, the Devil is playing a long game against his immortal Adversary as he employs the damned Voivode to bri [...]

    3. “There is a reason why all things are as they are.” - Bram Stoker, DraculaVlad III, Prince of Wallachia, of the House of Drăculești, becomes a pawn in the age-old battle between good and evil. in his attempt to return to Heaven and dethrone God, the fallen angel Lucifer sets his plans into motion. he grants Vlad immortal life as a vampire and commands the Voivode of Wallachia to wage war against the Catholic Church no matter what the cost. author Shane KP O'Neill blends facts, folklore and [...]

    4. The author of “Dracula Chronicles” novel series, Shane KP O’Neill, got sucked into a mythical world just as he began and kept on studying the historical figure of Vlad Dracula after watching Christopher Lee’s Dracula on silver screen for the first time. Deciding on materializing a series of nine novels according to his plan which combine his interest in both Medieval history and writing, O’Neill drags his readers with the first two volumes in the series into the unknown depth of the my [...]

    5. I love to read, so I try to pick up a book whenever I can. Fiction and specifically horror, are my true loves. So when I picked up Bound by Blood Volume 1, I was hoping for a good read. I didn't get that. I got a great read. Writing about Dracula's origins in all it's bloody glory is no small feat, and author Shane O'Neill embraces this with wonderful imagery and brutal honesty. Through all the great historical descriptions, the book moves at a good pace and the author gets you interested in the [...]

    6. Bound by Blood Volume 1 started out with the best action scene that I have read in a long time. Vlad Dracula was a fierce warrior and kicked some major butt. Swords, knives and arrows and a lot of blood…a whole lot of blood. I couldn’t tear my eyes away, the fight scene was so good. Vlad finally gets himself in a pickle and you ask yourself, “How in the world is he gonna get out of this?” Well you will be surprised because “HE” shows up. Now I’m already a scaredy cat when it comes [...]

    7. The origins of Dracula’s life as the Lord of the Undead and the beginnings of his rise to power are explored in this exciting new novel by Shane K.P. O’Neill. It’s the 15th century and the war between Heaven and Hell is constant. Lucifer is strengthening his forces, and his newest recruit is none other than Prince Vlad Tepes Dracula. Tasked with spreading horror in the Evil One’s name, Dracula sets out to claim as many Earthly souls as he can for his unholy master. Little does Dracula kn [...]

    8. The Dracula Chronicles - Bound By Blood is the first volume of what I hope are several installments in this great new series. Shane O'Neill has created an epic tale set in the 15th century about the struggles between good and evil and through the use of historical references, as well as his very vivid imagination, he has created a world worth a close look. O'Neill seamlessly blends folklore and mythology with actual history to create a dark and disturbing picture of Dracula and the time period i [...]

    9. I am absolutely blown away. Bound by Blood came blowing in like a breath of fetid air! This story is a powerful and sweeping epic. The language, the settings, the charactersey all exude Classic. This story took me back to where my love of vampire novels originated, to the character who started it all and what a an interesting and captivating twist on the story. I am in love with the idea of a great battle raging between Heaven and hell. This base gives the story so much more meaning and raises t [...]

    10. Shane K.P. O'Neill has done a masterful job in writing this book. He provides a new and unique look into the story of Dracula and provides some thought provoking ideas on what it is like in hell. This book will stimulate your imagination as it entertains you. Bound By Blood is among the best vampire novels I have read.

    11. It's so great to have new vampire books to read. I don't think I've seen any better than these stories. Now I have to wait for the next one. Not too long I hope.

    12. So, while I take a quick break from writing, I'd like to drop a review on Bound By Blood, Shane O'Neill's adaptation of Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure that Dracula is based off of. Vlad is a servant of the Catholic Church, fighting the Crusades against the Ottoman Turks and the spread of Islam. He's the ruler of the Wallachian throne and the strongest warrior in his army. After a victorious battle, he and his forces are set upon by Turkish assassins, who manage to fatally wound him with [...]

    13. "The Dracula Chronicles: Bound By Blood - Volume 1" by Shane O'Neill is an excellent Dracula story. Combining the myth with history and significant events in the development of the Catholic Church the book has a lot to offer. The story begins with one battle in a long winded struggle by Vlad III Dracula, Voivode of Wallachia to re-gain his throne and power. Close to victory he gets wounded and strikes a deal with Lucifer. Dracula is to gain eternal life in exchange for playing a significant role [...]

    14. Here the story moves on after Dracula's mortal death and transition into a vampire at the hands of Lucifer. Now as an immortal he must find his way in the world, discover the wonder of what he has become and what his part is in Lucifer's Great Plan. But with this new life comes great loneliness and he is driven by his need to find a companion. In the years that follow he adds to his number and the bloodbath begins as Dracula and his kin begin their journey through the ages, sating their appetite [...]

    15. Better than the Twilight-Saga!Bound by Blood by Shane K.P. O´Neill is a very well written story with a natural flow that’s evident that the author has found his “voice” – something many authors envy. I have no doubt that O´Neill’s enthusiasm in the vampire genre reflects throughout the entire story. The vampire genre with blood-suckers is a subject that has been written over and over again, and still there are a few authors such as Stephanie Mayor, Chuck Hogan and Guillermo del Toro t [...]

    16. I’ve read countless contemporary renditions of various classics – Sherlock Holmes, Frankenstein, Dracula, etc. Most are desperate reproduction attempts, as in, this sounds like Doyle….or, Stoker would write it like this, right?I have read a few that are genuine originals. Each based on a preconceived idea that utilizes the same primary characters, yet is disparate in form and technique – true pencraft. This particular opus by Mr. O’Neill falls into the latter category. The Dracula Chro [...]

    17. What a great take on the classic Dracula story. Shane does a super job with the telling of this thriller from the creation of Dracula the monster to his influence in history's greatest events. fast paced and action packed, the monster, Dracula weaves a web of lies and deceit through out time. Can't wait to start book 2.

    18. Mr. O'neill is clearly an author to watch, great story with a uniquely new vision of Dracula. A pleasure to read, I am greatly looking forward to the next book.

    19. The Dracula Chronicles: Bound By Blood - Volume 1 by Shane O'Neill is a magnificent achievement. Shane has expertly combined the classic vampire myth with medieval history in such a way as to entertain with gallons, no lakes of blood. Immediately, from page 1, the reader is dragged through a battle scene that I can only describe as brutal in the extreme, but tempered by fleshed out character descriptions. During this battle with the Turks, Vlad III Dracula, Voivode of Wallachia is mortally wound [...]

    20. Bound By Blood is by far the most historically rich and detail oriented vampire novel I have ever read. I appreciate the lengths the author went to in his research, and commend him for a truly unique and extraordinary vampire read. The story he creates of Dracula’s beginning and his rise to infamy is intoxicating and steeped in true historical events that will have history and vampire buffs alike begging for more. And as an added plus, the author weaves in incredibly touching bits of erotic ro [...]

    21. wonderful to have the old style old school vampire King Dracula back in all his evil hissing bloody fanged glory. This book seamlessly weaves in rich historical details into his tale. From the wars of Transylvania and the conflict between brothers, to the pomp and politics of the Papal court, the Borgia's, Machiavelli, even Martin Luther make an appearance. The relationship between Dracula and Lucifer a contentious developing father son dynamic played out over the stage of history. Dracula's rel [...]

    22. This book was all I hoped it would be. It introduces us to the darkest and most chilling of premises, the ultimate battle of good versus evil, and this is a real treatise of evil. The way the author blends fiction with real historic events is breathtakingly good, and the use of real historic figures such as Machiavelli and Martin Luther a true stroke of genius. It's so good it makes you wonder if this is truly fiction, or fact.

    23. If Goth horror is your thing you will love this.It is the tale of Dracula from birth as human through his life as a warrior fighting for his country and throne to when he agreed to do the devils bidding and on.It is so well written you'd think it was all based on fact. The research alone that has gone into it must have been huge and thanks to Shane's attention to detail has made the book what it is, something that I'd enjoyed as much as Bram Stoker's original.Fantastic!

    24. Bound by Blood was a fabulous new take on famous name, encompassing Vlad Dracula's earlier years, his birth as a vampire and consquential "life". Extremely graphic scenes throughout brought the action and horror to life with amazing clarity.A juicy mix of history, folklore, fact, fiction and horror, Shane O'Neill has teased us with the first book in this series based on Vlad Dracula. I could not put it down!!

    25. Bound by Blood Volume One introduces us to the famous vampire Dracula before he makes his hellish deal with Lucifer. Known down through history as a bloodthirsty monster, he actually began his reign as the equally bloodthirsty ruler, Vlad the Impaler. In Dracula’s time however, rulers had to be heavy handed and ruthless. If they didn’t take a firm hold over their people, and stand strong against their enemies, they didn’t tend to last long. Wars were common, land borders frequently invaded [...]

    26. Well, what can I sayProper gory, bloodthirsty and violent vampires. Awesome.History, battles, corruption in the church, plotting, backstabbing, brutal, bloody and some hot vampire sexy time. What more could you possibly ask for. I loved it and can't wait to read more.

    27. With the caveat that author Shane KP O'Neill is a friend on facebook, this 2012 offering explores an alternate history as experienced by Vlad Tepes in, what is the first of two volumes within a wider chronicle series. Now I trust that you know that Bram Stoker did not base the title character of Dracula on Vlad Tepes, Dracula was a borrowed name and a footnote, nothing more, and this has been convincingly and repeatedly proved by Dracula scholar Elizabeth Miller. However it is also true that Tep [...]

    28. A skillful blend of medieval historical facts, myths, and paranormal fantasy!A dark and epic vampire tale set in the 15th and 16th century Europe. A real page turner, full of strong emotions and violence, this novel is about the ultimate battle of the forces of Light against the forces of Darkness to save mankind.Even though, this is not my favorite genre, I have to admit it was a powerful novel that kept me fascinated until the very end.

    29. Forgive me Shane I am a horrible reviewer but I will give it my best effort.I am not sure but I'm thinking this is a debut novel from this author. If that is indeed the case then WOW! It truly is a remarkable piece of work. I don't know what to add differently from what the description of the book and what is on the back cover tells us. That would be my review of this book minus my personal feelings which is what I will describe here. For me, this was not a fast read. It is very epic in scale and [...]

    30. I really liked this book, a lot. I've got say I'm glad I watch The Borgias, knowing the names of the members of the house of Borgia made for easier reading! We all know that the original Dracula was loosely based on Vlad the Impaler. This author has cleverly weaved his own tale through these parts of history, adding a new take on Dracula! With well known historic figures throughout, it made one hell of an interesting read. The whispers of corruption, the power play, murder, greed and sex, it's a [...]
