Leenie Brown has always been a girl with an active imagination, which, while growing up, was a both an asset, providing many hours of fun as she played out stories, and a liability, when her older sister and aunt would tell her frightening tales At one time, they had her convinced Dracula lived in the trunk at the end of the bed she slept in when visiting her grandparents Although it has been years since she cowered in her bed in her grandparents basement, she still has an imagination which occasionally runs away with her, and she feeds it now as she did then by reading Her heroes, when growing up, were authors, and the worlds they painted with words were and still are her favourite playgrounds She was that child, under the covers with the flashlight, reading until the wee hours of the morningd pretending not to be tired the next day so her mother wouldn t find out Today, she fits, or is that squeezes, reading in around caring for her family of two fabulous most of the time teenage boys and one sweet and thoughtful husband while working full time as a junior high teacher. In addition to feeding her imagination, she also exercises it by writing While writing has been an activity she has dabbled in over the years, it blossomed into a full fledged obsession when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction As the second born of five sisters, just like Elizabeth Bennet, her imagination was soon captured And now, she spends much time in the regency world playing with the characters from her favourite Jane Austen novels and a few that are of her own creation. When she is not traipsing down a trail in an attempt to keep up with her imagination, she resides in the beautiful province of Nova Scotia She is a regular contributor to Peculiar Ramblings, a Jane Austen Fan Fiction newsletter.

    1. A compromise of the best kind!!!This is definitely a new but old plot for a P&P variation. A compromise ensues between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy, we have seen this before (I do love this theme), but the conspirator(s) of said compromise is not who is expected, nor is the reason for the compromise to be expected. This story begins just prior to the Netherfield Ball with a conversation between two old friends. What's nice is seeing the progression of understanding and emotions that ODC goes throu [...]

    2. Rating: 3.5*Novella #1 is part of a series of short stories. This is Elizabeth's story.Imagine if you will, Mr. Bennet and Sir Lucas arranging for his favourite daughter to be caught in a compromising situation with a man she dislikes! I found this to be a rather inventive premise. Mrs. Bennet would have been proud, if she only knew! As this is a short story, I don't want to give too much away. There is one scene with Mrs. Bennet that I was rather impressed with!

    3. In this Pride and Prejudice variation we see that it is Mr. Bennet that interferes in Darcy's life by arranging a compromise between Darcy and an unwilling Elizabeth.I enjoyed the easy flowing writing style of this book, and the extended story-line of some of the minor characters from the original, with the new added ones.

    4. I've given this 3 stars because it was well written and the characterisation was fine. But it was completely lacking in drama or tension. By 50% of the book they were in love. It was just too easy.

    5. A compromise story where Mr Bennet conspires with Sir William to bring ODC together in a rather unconventional way.I absolutely loved it!

    6. Elizabeth caught in the library with Mr. Darcy by the gossip of Meryton…Compromised: 5-starsThis was delightful and such a surprise. What is a father to do? Mr. Bennet knows Mr. Darcy and the Bingley party will be leaving shortly and he knows he must do something to ensure the happiness and security of his two oldest daughters. He and Sir William Lucas create the perfect plan… compromise. I loved how these two older gentlemen strategized and orchestrated their plan of action. They were like [...]

    7. I found it really interesting that this is a story of compromise brought about by Mr. Bennet. His motivations seemed a little shaky to me, but not so much that I couldn't go with the flow and enjoy the story. Elizabeth was more reasonable throughout than I expected, and I think she came around to loving Darcy a little too quickly for something diverging at the Netherfield ball, but again, I still enjoyed it.There are a couple of characters added to Colonel Fitzwilliam's family who felt a bit ext [...]

    8. Her Father's Choice: A Pride and Prejudice Novella (Choices Book 1)A delightful story in which Mr. Bennet plays a sneaky matchmaker. He recognizes that Darcy has feelings for Elizabeth and with the help of Sir William Lucas plans to have her Aunt Phillips discover her with Darcy in the Library. When she faces her fears and begins to realize that Darcy is not what she thought and Wickham's story was anything but true, she falls in love with him. Darcy's Aunt Lady Sophia is much like Elizabeth and [...]

    9. Another take on compromisingLoved this story was an easy fast read. There are a few new characters which I'm looking forward to reading more about. In this story Mr Bennet and Sir Lucas are the matchmaking mama or what I would call, scheming papa's. At first it seemed wrong but as I got into the story line it worked and I enjoyed the journey. My only gripe is that I thought it was going to be longer and to my surprise the story finishes at around 76% on my kindle. The rest of the book 24% is all [...]

    10. Original and interestingHow to trap one of the wealthiest bachelors without him being aware of it? Find out in this great story and have a wonderful time reading.

    11. This was a really fun adaption of Pride and Prejudice and I thought the author did a great job of bringing all the characters to life as well as putting a fun spin on the story. I really loved the way Mary was written and am looking forward to seeing her as the main character in the next book in the series No Other Choice: A Pride and Prejudice Novella. There is a preview at the end of this book for the "No Other Choice" and it sounds like a lot of fun.

    12. My rating was effected mainly by the fact that at 70% it was done. I knew it wasn't long but as the story unfolded I would glance down to see how much I had left. The story was well written I loved her take on this Darcy and Elizabeth but was disappointed that I couldn't spend more time. Be aware of this I think it will save you some disappointment at least. I think if the book shows how much is left that should be based on the story itself not stories following it. I paid for this book not the [...]

    13. This is a quite tried and true variation - a compromise force Darcy and Lizzy to marry. However, the fact that it was Mr. Bennet arranging it was new and different. And, it made for a quite enjoyable read. I loved how this book showed the love the father had for his daughters - as that is usually something that rarely comes through in P&P variations. I greatly enjoyed this variation!

    14. What fun. Can't wait to read the restGood read Lots of fun new characters and situations for Darcy and Lizzy. All pre Collins proposal. Don't miss it.

    15. Short and sweetThis was a sweet, short read. I haven't read the other books in the series but I think I'll give them a try.

    16. EnjoyableThis was my first time reading this author, and I look forward to reading more of her work. Her characters were well developed and the plot moved nicely.
