    1. This novel concludes the trilogy about these four women who met when they decided to attend a sacred journey workshop, and ended up forming their own Sensible Shoes club. You might need to grab a box of tissues for this one. It crosses over into the sort of story I don't usually choose to read (because there's enough emotionally draining happenings in any person's life without adding to it by getting heartbroken over the plights of fictional characters we've grown fond of), but since I'd become [...]

    2. I was so excited to read the third installment of the Sensible Shoes Club Series. I don't want to give any spoilers, but the characters take some surprising and unexpected turns. Each one goes deeper into their faith, and you as the reader, are not only along for the ride, but learning right along with them. Brown includes the spiritual growth exercises again, as well as more in the back of the book you can do with a group or on your own. You'll fall in love with these 4 women all over again and [...]

    3. The first book in this series, Sensible Shoes, had me reading nonstop until it was over, it was one of the best books I'd ever read. The second book was good, but I felt slightly let down by characters I had grown quite attached to.This third book in the series was back up there in the nonstop-reading-category. It was so good! I loved reading every word. I've been sick for the past few days and have been spending all my time reading it.I cried when reading this book. Sharon Garlough Brown really [...]

    4. I'm ugly-crying over this book at page 188. I don't care what happens the rest of the book; it's all worth it when I hit the part where Charissa buys Mara two weeks' worth of groceries. Sharon Garlough Brown truly has a gift for pulling the best out of her characters. A golden storytelling gift. I can't recommend this book (and this series) highly enough!

    5. Deb’s Dozen: Life’s never easy, but faith in God and friends makes living worthwhile.Barefoot is the third book in the Sensible Shoes series and in some respects, touched me more deeply than the other two. The deeply spiritual journey of Sensible Shoes, the closeness the characters gained carried over into book two, Two Steps Forward, Barefoot brings us yet another level further into the journey of these four women: Meg, Charissa, Hannah, and Mara.Life interferes with the desires of each wom [...]

    6. So many connections to make with these characters as we consider their spiritual journeys and ours--replacing the misguided (lying) "tapes" in our heads with more truthful words; perfectionism as a form of captivity (36); honesty in naming our desires, and then embracing "holy indifference" (53); facing our resentments; cancelling debts (117); learning to linger with what provokes you; naming our subconscious resistance (134, 269); the Cruciform life (177); serving out of abundance--joyfully wal [...]

    7. First, I have to say that I wish I could award more than five stars. That's how much I loved this book. Well, actually the whole series. Next I must tell you to read these books with your Bible and a box of tissues nearby. I generally don't buy fiction, but I plan to purchase this whole set for me and a set for each of my two daughters. I have never read a series of books that touch me as much as these have. If you are spiritual and want to know more about what God has in store for you and want [...]

    8. Surrender yourself to the mighty power and love of our Savior. The third book in her series, Sensible Shoes. These three books have lead me down a beautiful path, of intimacy with Christ. Once you learn to put yourself into a passage of scripture, and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal God's truth too you. You will never read scripture the same again. Let the Holy Spirit in, and He will change your life.

    9. This third installment of the Sensible Shoes club did not disappoint! I was so engrossed in the lives of these four women and the twists and turns they took, this book was difficult to put down. I love the fact that the spiritual exercises these women practice are printed in the book for the reader's benefit as well. I'm looking forward to hearing more from these women!

    10. Brown does it again, interweaving truth with fiction. Through the journey that these four women take I related to moments in their lives while continuing to learn to surrender it all to God. I loved this book.

    11. Loved this book!I have loved this series and so sad to see it end. I loved the growth of the characters, the exercises in a spiritual journey, and prayer life. I loved the friendship that developed between three women from completely different backgrounds and personalities.

    12. Nice conclusion to the series. I appreciate how the author lets us see the spiritual practices being played out--realistically (most of the time)--in the lives of her characters. Nobody in this book is super spiritual or holier than thou. Just normal women journeying together toward Jesus.

    13. A marvelous book that continues the Sensible Shoes series. If you haven't cried yet while reading this series, this one will make you cry. The relationships of the four characters grow so much stronger during this book and they grow in reliance on God as well. Simply marvelous!

    14. Devoured this one, and it wrecked me. I was heartbroken reading about Meg's illness and remembering loved ones who have suffered similarly.

    15. There are simply not enough words.lling, enthralling, engagingne of them are powerful enough to describe this book (and series). Sharon Garlough Brown touches lives, I'm sure of it.

    16. The West Michigan setting is familiar and so are many of the trials (internal and external) faced by the characters. I appreciated one characters' struggle to decide whether to discuss the past with her parents so they would understand her struggles with it. Her decision not to was encouraging in light of our current situations.

    17. I read book 2 & 3 back to back and I'm really hoping for another to continue Hannah, Mara and Charissa's stories and maybe Becca as wellIt's as if someone followed my life story and put it into other characters but ISee my life and my friends in these characters. I immerse myself in these books and need to continue this story. I highly recommend Sharon's books. She is a wonderful writer. I met her in Rochester,NY and I saw Hannah in person. Thank you Sharon for your continuing story that man [...]

    18. What a tear jerker! Meg passes away at the end of the book from lung cancer, just as Becca had left to go through security to fly back to London with Simon. Becca stays and stands in place of her mom at Hannah's wedding, in the blue dress Meg, her mom, had chosen. Becca is starting to question Simon's philosophy or no life after death.Mara had written to Tess, her first son Jeremy's father's wife, asking forgiveness for taking what was not hers, Jeremy's father. She had found out that Tom, her c [...]

    19. A story that will move your actionsThis series is such an encouraging one. It's also like having quiet times and therapy. I hope there are more books to come to continue to learn.

    20. While reading this book it got all my emotions stirred up. I meet Jesus in the most unexpected places. There are four women: Meg, Mara, Charissa, and Hannah. They each have skeletons that they are trying to deal with from the past. They all met at the New Hope Retreat Center and they have grown since meeting there and they have become great friends. They try to meet once in awhile to pray, talk through their struggles and share their sorrows and joys with one another. Each woman’s story goes into [...]

    21. This is her third book in the series. I think it is better written than the second book. The book also can stand alone without reading the other books. For her spiritual exercises, she uses bible verses and then has study and meditation questions around the verses. I have liked the guides in each of the books of the series, but I especially appreciated this one.The guides can be used by yourself, like I did, or in a book club, prayer circle, or other group. The story is dramatic. I think this was [...]

    22. This book is an emotional simplistic soulful and yet victorious story. You have four women who rely on each other to stand firm in the LORD - they get together and share their lives with each other and they bounce their lives off of each other. They give their opinions wanted or not - and it is always tethered with the love of CHRIST. Will they always follow those suggestions? They have people in their lives that causes them difficulties to cast their cares upon HIM - that is why they turn to ea [...]

    23. I find that reading these books at a slower pace makes them even better. I can't wait for book 4 and any future books Sharon Garlough Brown writes. I have loved getting to know the characters in this book. I feel invested in their lives in some strange way, and I'm rooting for them. And I'm wondering how God is going to work in the messiness of their lives. Start with book #1 Sensible Shoes, and you won't be disappointed!

    24. Oh my!! Book 3 did not disappoint! I could not put it down. Loved how all of them kept growing in their spiritual journey and with each other. Loved their "sensible"shoes in this story. Standing on Holy Ground kind of shoes. All my senses and emotions were kindled in this read. Thank you Sharon for your masterful work going deeper with HIM.
