    1. Manesse Bücher sind an sich ja immer eine kleine Versuchung - ich hatt zuvor von Herman Bang noch nie gehört. Schön, wenn man aus dem Nachwort lernen kann, wer das genau war. Stuck dreht sich um die Fassade der gutbürgerlichen Gesellschaft - und das wahre Leben dahinter. Ein echter Gründerzeitroman mit bissigem Einschlag. Die Sprache ist nicht immer glatt und poliert und man stolpert über einige Manierismen - so kann der Autor anscheinend keinen Dialog ohne "er sagte" schreiben. Aber dafü [...]


    2. A demanding and sharp portrait of a real estate bubble and the failed dreams associated with it. Perhaps too dependent on the readers ability to understand Copenhagen and Denmark in the 1880's probably a rapidly disappearing skill.


    3. Herman Bang is my favourite Danish author and this is my favourite book of his. An amazing tale about Copenhagen from village to modern city.
