The book covers 50 years in 150 pages, so it understandably has a rushed feel to it as years are skipped over between one paragraph and the next as Peters attempts to cram in the entirety of the War of the Roses into as short a space as possible. There is a lot of telling rather than showing as various people sit in rooms and trade news and gossip. It feels actually quite accurate for the time period, especially since there is more emphasis on the women left behind waiting for news than the men [...]
