For example, a picture that detailed the tragic events of the Bal des Ardents. Robert Bartlett mentions in a footn [...]

    3. Absolutely magnificent - presentation, facts & data and the opening up of the medieval world and mindset; are all near perfect. Genius!

    4. Maybe more like 3.5. This has a nice history of the historiography and popular perception of the Middle Ages. 5. 3 stars for the history (there were many mistakes and assumptions that were glaring and just wrong).5 stars for the illustrations. Just read it for the pictures.

    6. This is a good book for any interested parties who need a general introduction to the medieval period. It also features artwork from the period to further illustrate his points.
